Servus & Welcome!
An evening at
Johanneskeller is a journey through time.
Located in the heart of Salzburg’s Old Town, inside a over 400-year-old vaulted cellar of the “Priesterhaus”, we cook fresh food every day. Personally, honestly and without much fuss. We do not follow any fancy concept – here you are surrounded by a historic atmosphere and you are welcomed by people who live their craft.

This is our philosophy:We do not strive to be better, we choose to be different.
Because we believe in people, not in standards. Not uniform, but colourful, individual and alive.
Silvia, Peter and the teamSilvia Löcker brings her excellent taste in music and a keen instinct for creating a wonderful evening for the guests. Every day the kitchen chef Peter Lammer, creates a wonderful range of freshly prepared dishes. Together with Silvia and a highly motivated team, they run this place which doesn’t aim to be slick and polished, but to remain lively, personal and unique.
Here is what
we serve
We cook fresh meals every day using regional ingredients. Besides Austrian specialities such as »Innviertler« roast pork with cabbage, Cheese Dumplings or »Pinzgauer Kasnocken«, we serve a selection of European seasonal dishes including fresh pasta, Hungarian Paprika Chicken, Beef Steak, Caesar salad, fresh fish and many more.
Our menu changes frequently – let us surprise you! But don’t expect classic Schnitzel and French fries.

The Flying Chef
really cooks here
Many guests know Peter Lammer from international media stories as the “Flying Chef” from Salzburg. At the Johanneskeller, this is not a show. It is everyday life. Peter cooks in the kitchen himself – with »Standing Ovation«. The invention that began right here, born from the need to work, cook and being a host again, after a serious motorbike accident. So when you eat at Johanneskeller, you are not only visiting a restaurant. You are also visiting the place where a very special story of craftsmanship, participation and inventive spirit began. Sometimes floating. Never above anyone. Practical. Human. A little stubborn. Very much Johanneskeller.
